________

ABOUT THE RELEASE:

There’s a saying…”Third time’s a charm.” In the context of Rock It Science Laboratories’ third E.P. this most certainly rings true. The first two releases by RISL have been stellar and this E.P. levels this fresh new label up another notch. Thunder Cats have already been on the prowl, appearing as the first track on Tommie Sunshine’s spring promo mix and an XLR8R podcast from White Girl Lust.

Eric Sharp & Bass Cadet go to the outer reaches of audio space exploration and zoom back into orbit delivering a monster of a club whomper with Thunder Cats. Almost immediately upon listening, the sound of looming thunder bass rolls in from the distant skies soundscape. The intro lets the club freaks in on the hint that their dancing shoes are about to get worked and their eardrums boosted. Shooting sounds like stars racing across the night sky dive in and then the release of the growls of gyrating bass come in for the kill. Thunder Cats is one of those luscious tracks that defies genres, garnering support from a wide range of artists.

DJ Fame, Dubsided Records and Potty Mouth Music pioneer as well as Rock It Science label mate, gives Thunder Cats the big room, big city feel with this deep tech space growler. Just when we think we know what to expect from Fame The breakdown takes you to the cosmos and back, delivering an epic and original biting sound like only Fame can drop reminiscent of some of the best releases on labels like Freerange and Loungin. The filtering throughout this audio journey is key and is what sets this remix apart. Truly thunderous!

Sick Boy, hailing from Amsterdam and tearing up the charts lately with work out on labels like Dim Mak and Discobelle, brings the polished heat on this incredibly tasteful stormer of a remix. The sound of foreign, forest freshness is alive and well as the drums are literally dancing in the background. Sick Boy also does an amazing job panning the wildly edited bass cuts. The deep and soft kicks and claps mixed with the intensity of the other feverish sounds are reminicient of a wildcat pouncing its prey without warning. This is for a sure a dance floor peak time crusher.

Comin’ with the SF house stylings is Homero Espinosa, founder of the YBD label group & studios. Homero is an incredible producer and adds his imprint of sexy sounds to this powerful remix package. The Thunder Cats title begs to be changed to Thunder Sax as Homero brings in a tripped out delayed sax compliments of Chris Klein, which gives this remix a unique element. Homero’s high hats are sharp and crispy which is an instinctual trademark of his audio prowess. This remix is driving and yet still laid back with spaced out elements of echoing tripiness as if the listener were a lost astronaut floating about in deep space.

The Thunder Cats title shines through the most with the Spystep remix that roams wild through the ears and attacks like a hungry predator. Best known for their work on Mal Label Music, Spystep brings rumbling, animalistic bass that grinds and breathes it’s vibration up and down the spine. The hairs on ones back stand up straight in pure ecstacy as this slowed down incredible jam pulls from all the best sounds of the original’s nastiness for a true dubstep destroyer. Spooky synths bring the listener into a world of unknowing aggressive surprises. Fierce.

EVIL EDDIE RICHARDS RETURNS TO NYC – SAT, AUGUST 14TH

Join us Saturday, August 14th, as Rock It Science, Simply Bangin’ and Ampd! team up to welcome back to NYC one of the most respected house dj’s on the planet, the “Godfather of Techno & House” himself… “EVIL” EDDIE RICHARDS (Fabric, Wiggle, UK), who this time plays in support of his upcoming remix on RIS Labs of “Peak Time” out this September! As a resident at London’s world-famous Fabric nightclub, and one-third of the Wiggle… trio, Eddie’s name is synonymous with cutting edge British dance music. For more than 20 years, he has been a hugely influential figure on the UK scene, from DJing at some of the earliest British raves to starting up one of the first booking agencies (Dy-Na-Mix.) Join us as the original tech-house pioneer takes to the decks, bringing his unmistakable sound to the underground.

RIS label boss, DJ FAME (also known from his Dubsided & Potty Mouth releases), adds to the night his signature dirty house grooves we have grown to expect! Over the past few years, Fame has guested sets on dance floors from Hawaii to Russia, and many in-betweens, bringing with him his love for all things “tech”. The launch of RIS, along with West Coast counterpart Eric Sharp, has been the focus of his most recent efforts and the introduction of the label on to the dance world has been extremely well received.

The man behind the AMPD! parties right here in NYC, LEKS, knows what it takes to keep the party moving all night.. especially in his backyard! He’s been rocking the feet of New Yorkers for quite a few years, and has been at every respectable venue around to open for some of the world’s largest acts. It’s been a while since we’ve all done it together… But it’s definitely not the first time!

Simply Bangin’ resident, DIRTY DAN , joins in the action to get the night opened up proper. Dan recently relocated back to NYC from a 3 year stint in Alaska, where he held down numerous residencies, FM radio shows, and built a major global following for his podcast. This past year, he also released his first set of original tunes on UK’s Underphunk and On Time/Rise Records. He has also done some remix for for RIS to be released later this year.

ABOUT THE RELEASE:

Peak Time – the second explosive EP off the Rock It Science Laboratories label – is not just a unique and well rounded package, it’s a state of mind. It’s that moment when the dance floor is reaching it’s energetic climax, the DJ has built up the vibe, and everyone is completely in sync with that amazing feeling that you only get when you are connected to that higher source, really feeling the vibration and losing track of time.

Native Intelligence, known for writing great lyrics and attaching them to pounding original tracks, has belted out a true dance floor classic with his first release on Rock It Science Laboratories. Immediately launching you into the outer space regions of his musical mind, Native takes you on a gliding journey where the key pads sparkle like stars and bass warps like galaxies spiralling. Up, up and away this incredible track brings you to the very place that it’s title states. Just when you wonder where not on earth you are in comes Native’s own pitch shifted voice rounding out the epic audio experience. “Pumpin’ Thumpin’… Bass got you Jumpin’, Grindin’ Unwindin’ ..Happiness you’re Findin’, Drippin’ Trippin’ DJ’s straight up Rippin’ cause it’s Peak Time baby got me dancin’ Crazy.” Coming at you like a beautiful beast, the massive wall of vibration modulates and rockets toward your center core like a heat seeking missile delivering an infinite explosive chill complete with intergalactic goosebumps.

Sunshine Jones, founding member of the pioneering Dubtribe Soundsystem and producer of classics such as Do It Now, Mother Earth, and many more brings in the light with his mature Extended Disco Remix creating a happier and joyous version of the intensely wobbling original. Thick original bass played by Sunshine is accompanied with his own backing vocals, hand claps and high hats. Warm and harmonious, this remix exudes nothing but love from one of SF’s most accomplished producers. This is an excellently executed remix great for setting a deep vibe in on the dance floor as Sunshine expertly builds a groove and rides it into the heavens. Fans of DFA and the new disco sound should definitely check this out.

DZ ravishes our ears on the other end of planet Peak Time. This man on fire with recent remixes on Fool’s Gold, Mad Decent, and many more as well a a slew of original works on his Badman Press label drops yet another dubstep ripper. Dramatic and wild, DZ combines the pitched down, effected vocals with Native’s natural voice creating a more raw feel. Departing from the legions of wobble tracks that are presently flooding speakers, DZ’s smooth and thick sub bass invades our bodies while the keys create a visual of alien space spiders crawling about. Just when you think the tone is set for a mellow groove, an anthemic and haunting synth line takes you out amongst the stars in an outer space hip hop scene gone wonderfully wrong. The remix has mad bass and sick sounds to create a state of emergency on the dance floor. Dubstep has never sounded so good.

Casey DC comes correct with his Purple Hills remix. Bouncy and thick, this mix is reminiscent of the Dirtybird sound we’ve come to know and love. Casey sets himself apart by the way he expertly constructs this hypnotic scorcher. The solar warmth emanating in his well chosen sounds clearly introduce in this remix the signs of what will surely be a star studded career. Dribbling space sounds and stretched vocals along with glitchy tweaks make this a great selection for those who love it minimal.

S.I.M.O. & Native Intelligence bring a fierce and darker version of Peak Time compared to the original. The remix starts off obnoxiously with almost every layer of the original dropping at the same time until a backspin calms the chaos as Native and S.I.M.O.’s voices invite us in letting us know this is no mistake, it’s Peak Time Remixed.
