Grabbed the most recent 12″ from Perlon co-founder Markus Nikolai. The A-side ‘Kiss Your Mind’ is a whirling hiccup funk number with the goofy vocals that you can expect from the Perlon crew. The female guest vocalist may sound familiar to any house heads out there. Her name is Clair Dietrich and she lent vocals to Nikolai’s first major hit, ‘Bushes’ which was remixed by everyone from Derrick Carter to Doc Martin. The B-side is equally heavy with a lazy guitar line and another alien vocal sample. A must have for true fans of minimal tech house thump.

This twelve also marks the first output from Nikolai in nearly five years. Worth the wait.

The label I run A&R for dropped the third compilation in our Blog series last week. Frederick Olufsen returns with his ‘Step One (Lacrimosa)’- a classical experiment pondering how ‘doom’ is truly the first step. Disco of Doom have crept from the trenches with a ‘Warpig’ on their stake. LaTourette mangle your ears with a double dose of debilitating madness. And The Bass Knights create an Infernal Carnival where Polymorphic and the rest of the lot may evoke your deepest nightmares.

This is not a collection for the weary heart. Your nerves will be placed at the edge, taunted by the shadows, as the haunting sounds of Evil Blog 2 engulf you from within.

My man Frederik Olufsen has finally launched his own label Royal Fetish Recordings. He’s definitely an innovator when it comes to combining classical music and the heavy sounds of electro and wonk. On this debut single for his label he uses the compositions of Norwegian composer Edvard Hagerup Grieg.

Two tracks sure to impress in both form and function.

Fukkk Offf is back with a scorching second single from his debut album Love Me, Hate Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me. ‘More Than Friends’ has been the dominating track from the album with it’s male/female hip hop duet about a sneaky encounter at the club and has been begging for an equally dominating remix package. Italy’s CongoRock step up first with a club banger that is as reminiscent of old school Chicago jack tracks as it is telling of the future of dancefloor mayhem. CongoRock strips out most of the vocal leaving you with a heavy chant, driving rhythms and chaotic melodies. Markus Lange & StereoFunk take things way back to the land of 80′s disco funk. Leaving the vocal intact with a new arrangement the ML & SF mix sits as well alongside Sugar Hill Gang as it does anything out there today; Timeless. The track features vocals from Jence of Digitalism (who also lends a remix) plus Gooseflesh from Istanbul twist and lacerate the original with their unique production techniques.
