SUNJAM 2010 (Utila, Honduras) w/Alexi Delano, XPANSUL, Joseph Capriati, more…

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

Hey Bangers’,

Check out this awesome festival held each year in Honduras on a private island in the Caribbean. Get in touch if you need more information. Otherwise, maybe I’ll see you there!

Gil K

The locals call it the infamous annual event. But once you’ve been there, you’ll know it as pure party pleasure. The DJ lineup features prominent Central American artists, invited guests, and international headliners

The dance floor is global, the vibe is electric, and the music takes you to that special place. Once you’re there, you can pitch a tent, chill-out on the pristine beaches, wade in the waist deep Caribbean water. See below for pictures and video.

Sunjam is held on Water Caye, an uninhabited, 3-acre island, just off the coast of Utila. On the day of the Sunjam you’ll head out to Water Caye by water taxi. The event usually starts in the afternoon on Saturday and goes until mid-morning Sunday.

On the island are a fully stocked bar, restrooms, security, medics, bag check, and food stands. There are also water taxis there to take you back to Utila at any time. Tickets are available online, at the warm up parties, or at the door.

DANNY T – DUBNOIR MIX SET (DNM MIX 007)

Monday, March 1st, 2010

Danny T gives out a new mix in celebration of his new release on UK’s Dubnoir Music, who is known for their chunky cut up beats and jackin grooves.

“Danny’s debut solo EP, is a combination of all things exotic, tropical and funky. This EP showcases Danny’s production ability and is the direction his music and sets have been going recently. Whether its a drismal winter or hot summers day this EP will still make you want to get up and just straight party. On Remix duty is a DubNoir label favourite; Kyle Watson. Kyle adds his element of funk to devastating effect which would self implode any dance floor from here to tim-buk-tu, enjoy.”

Markus Nikolai ‘Kiss Your Mind’

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

nikolai

I’m now back to making weekly trips to the record store. I am burnt on bit rates.

Grabbed the most recent 12″ from Perlon co-founder Markus Nikolai. The A-side ‘Kiss Your Mind’ is a whirling hiccup funk number with the goofy vocals that you can expect from the Perlon crew. The female guest vocalist may sound familiar to any house heads out there. Her name is Clair Dietrich and she lent vocals to Nikolai’s first major hit, ‘Bushes’ which was remixed by everyone from Derrick Carter to Doc Martin. The B-side is equally heavy with a lazy guitar line and another alien vocal sample. A must have for true fans of minimal tech house thump.

This twelve also marks the first output from Nikolai in nearly five years. Worth the wait.

I do my weekly shopping at Halcyon in DUMBO. Best record shop in NYC for tech heads.

If you’re not in the NYC area pick up a copy for yourself @ Phonica.

Sat 1.23 | NO REQUESTS: The 4 Year Anniversary w/ Gil K, Samsara, Deepspell, Billy Disciple @ 200 Orchard

Saturday January 23rd
NOSI Music presents
NO REQUESTS: The 4 Year Anniversary Party
w/ Gil K, Samsara, Deepspell, Billy Disciple
200 Orchard

It’s a new year once again. A new year filled with boundless hope and promise for the future. And 2010 (twenty-ten as my Faisal says) looks like it has all the potential of being a banner year.

Lots of great music on the horizon for NOSI Music this year: new artists signings from Amsterdam and Budapest, new sub labels from NY and Guatemala, and solo artists from DC will surely reshape your impression of NOSI Music over the next 12 months.

Saturday, January 23rd our monthly NO REQUESTS party will mark the passing of our 4th year in NYC organizing events and publishing tracks with our favorite DJs and producers from around the Apple and abroad.

This month’s installment features 2 of NYs top performing and well-respected DJ teams. Sullivan Room residents and neophyte globetrotters, Samsara joins us with their signature blend of high energy, big room tech and house that’s landed them some of the city’s most sought after gigs recently.

Also joining us in the mix will be none other than NOSI Music recording artist, Deepspell and his label partner Billy Disciple from Undulate Recordings. Billy & Al (Deepspell) have rocked the decks for countless NOSI events in 2009 and have also been instrumental in the recent Bar 13 events with Spencer Parker, Carl Lio, and MANIK as part of the Stranjjur team.

So, we hope you can join us and help celebrate our 4 year anniversary as we get 2010 started off with some good times and hazy memories!

See you there!

NEW DUOTONE REMIX- HUGE!

Monday, January 4th, 2010

Sorry for my absence everyone.

The Holiday season has been taxing in all the good ways.

I’m jumping back in with this one from my good friends DUOTONE. I will be posting more of their stuff up soon, however when I woke up this morning to this track I knew I needed to get it up here ASAP!

DUOTONE is Che Dubois & Adam Addison of The Beat Freakers(a partnership with another awesome guy, Greg Carlson, which originated in Chicago and continues to make waves primarily in Toronto/Ontario/Canada, oddly enough, to this day). DUOTONE is currently signed to Bugeyed Records(the label responsible for the HUGE Felguk releases as of late) and is just about to release their 2nd EP of original material(first can be purchased here.

For their latest remix(again more to come) they’ve chosen Ministry of Sound recording artist EXAMPLE‘s newest release ‘Won’t Go Quietly’. HUGE!

12/5: SANTIAGO & BUSHIDO NYC DEBUT @ SANTOS PARTY HOUSE

Monday, November 30th, 2009

On Saturday, December 5th, Simply Bangin’ brings you another quality night of music, this time lining up a NYC DEBUT PERFORMANCE by Chicago sensations, SANTIAGO & BUSHIDO!

For those who may be unfamiliar (under a rock maybe???), Santiago and Bushido have been cranking out chart topping originals and high profile remixes together for the past 6 years, releasing material on top notch labels such as Potty Mouth, OM, and Ultra. Their track “Head Trick” was a true dance anthem of 2008, receiving major support from guys like Moby, DJ Tiesto, Switch, Armin Van Buren, and Diplo. It was Beatport’s single most downloaded song in January 2008, and the 8th most downloaded of the entire year! More recently, their collaboration with Om recording artist Colette entitled “Make Me Feel,” was released in spring of this year and quickly became a hit. S&B again saw the #1 spot on Beatport’s electro sales and was charted by another huge list of heavy hitters.

Label-mate and NYC veteran, DJ FAME, makes a rare “in-town” appearance as he brings his signature sound of filthy late night grooves to Santos for the first time! Aside from his Dubsided success, and releases under the Bit Crushers moniker on Perfecto, Little Mountain, and Wearhouse, Fame and S&B collaborated on a track late last year for Potty Mouth named “For the People” which was served as Fame’s 3rd release on the Chicago imprint.

After a 3 year stint running Alaska’s underground music scene, we welcome back one of Simply Bangin’s founding members, DIRTY DAN, who makes his first appearance since being re-relocated back to his home town of NYC last month. There he held down numerous residencies, FM radio shows, and built a major global following for his podcast. This past year, Dan has also released his first set of original tunes on UK’s Underphunk and On Time/Rise Records.

DENNY LE NIMH, Ruff Club boss and now resident of the new Brooklyn weekly, Germ, kick starts the night with some chunky fresh sounds!

DEADMAU5- AT PLAY Vol. 2- 2009 FREE DOWNLOAD

00-deadmau5-at_play_2-cd-2009-proof

Although A lot of people in Toronto hate on fellow Torontonian Joel Zimmerman’s quick rise to fame, those same people still play a track or two of his every once in a while.

He’s just like you or me(but perhaps with more talent than most of us). He found his passion while raving in the mid to late 90′s.

a photo from a friends personal collection. Deadmau5 is on the right.

You can’t hate him or his music. He’s got a formula that works down pat and isn’t afraid to step outside of the norm(although he mainly stays within it).

This is a new DJ promo of all high bit rate new tracks of his.  Some I like(Mr. G is awesome!), some I don’t.

Evil Blog 2 & Royal Fetish Recordings

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

BGCD003-Digilabel-720610

The label I run A&R for dropped the third compilation in our Blog series last week. The comp is called ‘Evil Blog 2.’ Evil Blog 2 picks up where the mind-melting invasion of Attack of the Blog left off. This time around Buzzard Gulch & Low Life Inc. has gone to the darkest spaces to discover the most tortured sounds available. Evil Blog 2 is filled with tracks that are sure to rattle the very center of your soul.

Frederick Olufsen returns with his ‘Step One (Lacrimosa)’- a classical experiment pondering how ‘doom’ is truly the first step. Disco of Doom have crept from the trenches with a ‘Warpig’ on their stake. LaTourette mangle your ears with a double dose of debilitating madness. And The Bass Knights create an Infernal Carnival where Polymorphic and the rest of the lot may evoke your deepest nightmares.

This is not a collection for the weary heart. Your nerves will be placed at the edge, taunted by the shadows, as the haunting sounds of Evil Blog 2 engulf you from within.

Listen and download a preview of all the tracks here.

Purchase ‘Evil Blog 2′ for $11.99 Here via Beatport.

inthehallofthemountaink

My man Frederik Olufsen has finally launched his own label Royal Fetish Recordings. He’s definitely an innovator when it comes to combining classical music and the heavy sounds of electro and wonk. On this debut single for his label he uses the compositions of Norwegian composer Edvard Hagerup Grieg.

Two tracks sure to impress in both form and function.
